Internal Audit Management and Quality Assurance

Leading an internal audit function well requires far more than technical audit skill; it demands staffing, quality assurance and stakeholder management capability that most auditors are never formally taught before they are promoted into it. This course covers the management job. Delegates work through the charter, independence and the reporting relationship with the audit committee, resourcing and the skills mix an audit universe actually requires, and planning and allocating a team across a year. Quality assurance and improvement is covered in full, including internal assessment and the external review the standards require. Managing relationships with executives who dislike findings is addressed directly. The course closes on developing auditors, on measuring the function and on reporting its performance to the committee.
