Asset management is often equated with maintenance, when the standard is about aligning what an organisation does to its assets with what it is trying to achieve, across the whole life from acquisition to disposal. This course covers that wider discipline. Delegates work through the structure of the standard, the strategic asset management plan and how organisational objectives translate into asset objectives. Asset registers, criticality and the data that everything else depends on follow. Whole life costing and the acquisition decision that determines decades of operating cost are covered. Risk, performance measurement and the balance between cost, risk and performance are addressed as the central trade off. Decision making for renewal, refurbishment and disposal is covered. The course closes on maturity assessment, certification and on the line management ownership without which none of it operates.
