Analytical Chemistry Methods for Quality Control Laboratories

This course strengthens the analytical foundation of technicians working in pharmaceutical, food, water, and mining quality control laboratories, where titration, gravimetry, and spectrophotometry remain daily workhorses alongside more advanced instrumentation. Participants practice method selection, calibration curve construction, and error analysis using worked examples drawn from regional industry. The course closes gaps between textbook chemistry and the realities of a working bench.

Course objectives

  • Select appropriate classical and instrumental methods for a given analyte and matrix
  • Perform accurate titrimetric, gravimetric, and volumetric determinations
  • Construct and interpret calibration curves and assess linearity
  • Apply statistical tools to evaluate accuracy, precision, and outliers in analytical data
  • Troubleshoot common sources of error in wet chemistry analysis

Who should attend

  • Quality control chemists in pharmaceutical and food laboratories
  • Water and effluent testing analysts
  • Mining and minerals assay laboratory technicians
  • Recent chemistry graduates entering laboratory roles
